So this weekend I finally went out and did something new and local.  Me and a few other guys went down to Oceano dunes (Pismo) for some ATV action.  It was super fun and well worth it, even though my back is pretty sore, along with my right shoulder which got injured a few days prior.  Landing jumps really takes a toll on your body.  Next time I go though, I'll bring better goggles and probably wear long sleeves.  Sand in your eyes while going over uneven terrain is not fun at all!

First is Mike, I am second, then Sherman is third.  I wasn't going very fast and so I didn't catch that much air.

Driving on the beach is pretty cool, but getting stuck isn't.

Looking like a stud with those swimming goggle lookalikes

I bet this is what the middle east looks like...

One of many of my mini jumps.  I did get one pretty big air after I maned up and hit a jump in 4th gear.

Oh, and I finally installed the leveling switch for my headlamps.  The video is pretty boring unless you know what this stuff is so don't waste your time watching it.

I finally finished my shoes, with only 3 finger pricks!  What I did was stuff the tongues and restitch the tags a la SB style.  I've just been working on it whenever I had free time, and lately there hasn't been much of that.  The good thing is that school is winding down and finals are in two weeks, which means summer is after that!  The bad thing is that finals are in two weeks and I really don't think I am in good shape for them.

Tiesto

Props to Chris for getting such a clean pic!

(please excuse the poor audio -- my camera sucks at capturing very loud music)

Yes, we were really that close to him!

It looks like Tiesto is looking this way

And from this weekend:

Wednesday, April 19, 2006

Haven't been posting much at all, reason being, you guessed it!  School!  I don't know what I was thinking last quarter when I enrolled in 3 EE classes (each w/ lab) and a GE class.  The lectures aren't too bad -- it's the labs that keep me on campus for long hours.  Oh well at least I feel like I'm spending my time efficiently as a student and not slacking off at home as much (although it still happens).

Not too sure what I'm doing for summer yet.  Got a few options but haven't put my foot down just yet.  But I will either be in Fremont or in SLO.

Spring break in Chicago was really fun!  I got to experience a new place with a totally different climate and type of people (more white than SLO!).  I loved how clean and nice everything was, and the food was superb.  See below for pics.

I realized SLO isn't all that great haha (took me three years to realize this).  It's just so boring!  Well maybe it's because I live waayy far away from campus in a quiet residential area down the street from a retirement center.  I have a lot more fun when I go down to SB for the weekend.

After watching various skate DVDs it got my juices pumping and made me want to get back into it.  I mean hey, what's someone with Nike SBs who doesn't skate?  Unfortuneately, my skill level has decreased over the 6 years I hadn't skated, which puts me not that much better than I was.  I just never got it down -- I couldn't even ollie onto the curb or over anything... lame!  My problem is I am too scared to fall and break a bone or something.  Also, since I'm super out of shape my legs get tired pretty quickly.

That's about all I can think of to post right now.  This will probably be it for another month haha, unless some cool shit happens that is worth posting.

New panoramics!  If you enjoyed the ones I posted from Asia, you might find these interesting.

From atop the Hancock Center.  Straight out is Indiana.

Deep dish pizza @ Lou Malnati's (2 slices gets you full)

Calvin's roommate climbing up the fire escape since we got locked out.  Mad skillz yo (the metal ladder was freezing!)

Bomb ass eggs benedict at some breakfast joint of which I forgot the name of

A cool structure in Millenium Park

Bar hopping.  Haha @ Andy's westside.

That's right.  It was funny because we got lost trying to find this place!

Victory!  (my mouth was still full)

Not in Chicago, but The Ataris (well 2 of the guys) played at my school one day a few weeks back.  Never knew Kris Roe's hair was brown haha.  On the downside, that same day the Cal Poly Latino Club was having some "demonstration" thingie by holding up a huge banner and chanting some spanish very loudly.  Which would you rather listen to, The Ataris or a group of chanting students?  Thought so.

Time to go BBQ some bulgoki style meat (look a few posts down for some pics I took the last time I made it).  Slightly frozen beef is easier to cut thinly!  The downside is a very cold hand when massaging the marinade in.
